A "global" solo cello evening with music from literally every continent!
In addition to some European "classics" of solo cello literature from the ranks of Bach and Ligeti, this program will also include lesser-known compositions from outside Europe.
This musical world tour sets an example for diversity and openness in art and music.
Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, one of the few composers with a "people of color" background from the USA, is represented, as is Bright Cheng, who combines Western and Chinese music in the most original way. And: A song that has been proven to have been played on a polar ship in the Antarctic will also be heard in an arrangement for cello.
Music by J. S. Bach, Giovanni Sollima, Jose Elizondo, Peter Sculthorpe, G. Ligeti, G. Cassado and much more.
